Have you had a chance to check out Software Advice’s Restaurant POS Software BuyerView | 2014? Take a look at it and see if you agree with me that it’s a spot-on overview of the POS “must haves” for any restaurant operator, and the “must provides” for any POS software maker.

Although it doesn’t contain any real surprises, the report shines a light on the big difference between a system that provides basic functionality and one that provides it all.

Maitre'D POS software is a great example of the latter. Go ahead: scratch our surface. The deeper you look, the more you find.

First, is the scope of Maitre'D—reaching every corner of the restaurant’s operation: those listed in the report and many others. We’re not in the business of helping you manage just sales. We’re in the business of helping your manage your entire operation, including gift cards, loyalty programs, analysis and forecasting, kitchen production. and much much more. As we say in our product brochure, you can “have it all with Maitre'D.”

Next is integration—critical to nearly 2/3 of the respondents to Software Advice’s survey. We’re integrated internally. All our modules and features share data with all the other modules: a meal prepared in the kitchen automatically updates inventory. A paid bill automatically updates the loyalty program. And we’re integrated externally, to providers like Sysco and to your accounting system.

I said there were no surprises: there was one. Fifty-five percent of the respondents were not using POS software at all. Sixty-five percent said they were planning to make a POS purchase within 90 days. That’s a lot of first-time POS users. For us, that means one thing: support—an issue the survey didn’t touch on. In this context that means a support team that knows how to teach.
