How Big is your Big Data? (...and why it matters)

We’re report fanatics here: can’t get enough of them. And most of our customers are... really, most people who manage any business are. The amount of data that Maitre'D generates about customers, sales, trends and forecasts, labor, financials, profits, inventory, suppliers, and so much more, delivers remarkable insights into your operation, and how you can grow your business. Absolutely. Your restaurant or franchises may not reach into the petabytes and exabytes of data that an operation like McDonald’s generates. But it has all the same characteristics—in terms of breadth, diversity and growth. It’s definitely Big Data—for you and your marketplace.

Maitre'D POS reports make sense out of all that data. They report on a single subject: weekly sales for instance. They also report on all the points of intersection. Weekly sales can be viewed in the context of waste, of staff, of inventory. They can be viewed in the context of yesterday, last week and last year. And they can be used for forecasting, for procurement, for provisioning, and more.

There are lots of ways to slice and dice and deliver the data. Maitre'D’s complete report center comprises over 250 unique reports. Reports that can be emailed, exported or published automatically, at any time interval you wish to set. A lot of those reports are very specific to a type of restaurant or to a specific module: for instance, not every restaurant sells scale items (like an 8 oz Rib Eye), so the various reports about scale items won’t be relevant. A fine dining operation won’t need to report on sales at the drive thru windows. Not counting the reports that provide deep insight into specific areas, for operators who want to get very sophisticated in their analysis or look for ways to take their business to the next level. But there are some key POS reports that every restaurant needs to run often: reports they can’t live without. These are the core sales, inventory, labor and production reports that provide high-level, well-detailed, windows into every corner of the business.
